Harsh Poolside Environments and Privacy Needs
A villa owner in Penang, Malaysia, wanted to design a luxurious outdoor shading solution right next to their swimming pool. However, this specific placement brought two major challenges. First, the constant exposure to pool water splashes and high ambient humidity required materials that are strictly rust-proof and moisture-resistant; standard outdoor metals would degrade rapidly. Second, the client needed the space to double as a convenient, private changing area for swimmers. Therefore, they specifically requested colored, non-transparent roller blinds to ensure total privacy, alongside a built-in LED lighting system for evening pool parties.
The Solution
Engineered for Moisture Resistance and Ultimate Privacy
To meet these demanding poolside requirements, our engineering team customized a heavy-duty aluminum pergola treated with a specialized anti-corrosion and moisture-proof powder coating, guaranteeing long-lasting structural integrity even in damp environments.
To address the privacy requirement, we bypassed our standard semi-transparent mesh and custom-manufactured motorized windproof zip screens in a solid white opaque fabric. When lowered, these white screens transform the pergola into a completely private, secure changing room. Furthermore, we seamlessly integrated a waterproof LED ambient lighting system into the roof louvers. As shown in the stunning night photos, the combination of the warm LED glow against the crisp white privacy screens creates a breathtaking, resort-like atmosphere in the client’s own backyard.
